What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that creates “micro” skin punctures with sterilized needles that induce the production of collagen within our skin. This treatment is performed in a clinical setting by licensed professionals and has the ability to penetrate deeper than over-the-counter rollers.
What Results are Expected?
Microneedling induces the collagen in your skin to be stimulated. SkinPen has the only FDA-cleared tip which contains sterile micro needles which create micro injuries in the skin which in turn stimulate your body’s natural repair process. The depth of the micro needles are customizable for each patient’s needs. You will see noticeable improvement in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and scars from trauma.
How Many Treatments are Necessary and How Long Will Those Results Last?
Patients see the most improvement with a series of treatments. We will discuss with you your goals and customize a plan to best suit your needs and lifestyle. Most patients need three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. SkinPen results are permanent; however, they do not slow down the natural aging process. Maintenance treatments after your initial series may be repeated once every year. A quality at-home skincare regimen will also help with results.
What Can I Expect During the Treatment?
Before the procedure begins, we will apply a topical numbing agent to your skin to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Once we complete the numbing process, we will cleanse your skin and apply a glide product to your skin. This glide product helps the tip of the pen glide easily across the surface. The treatment itself takes about 20-30 minutes. We will apply a breathable moisture barrier to your skin directly after treatment.
How Long Does Recovery Take?
SkinPen is a great treatment because there is no real downtime. The day of treatment, you will be red and feel like you have a sunburn. The next day, you will be pink but can apply makeup directly to the treated area.
