The active ingredient in KYBELLA™ is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected beneath your chin, KYBELLA™ destroys fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. Dr. Finn is one of the first practitioners to use KYBELLA™ and trains other physicians in its use.
What is the Recommended Course of Treatment?
Most people start to see improvement under the chin two to four weeks after the first treatment. Some patients require multiple treatments, and others fare better with surgical procedures to obtain optimal results. Dr. Finn will determine how many treatments will be required to give you the best outcome. At your consultation, we will determine how many treatments will be required to give you the best outcome. Once the aesthetic goal is achieved, re-treatment is unnecessary as the fat cells are permanently destroyed.
Are There Any Side Effects?
The most common side effects of KYBELLA™ include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Very rarely, nerve injury can result, so it is very important your injector has excellent knowledge of facial anatomy. These side effects, if present, will go away within a few months.
